Dental Technologist
Overview
Dental Technology is a course of study that focuses on the design, fabrication, and repair of dental prosthetics and orthodontic appliances. This field combines the principles of dental science, engineering, and materials science to create custom-made restorations, such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and orthodontic appliances, to restore or enhance the function and appearance of the teeth and jaws.
The ultimate goal of a Dental Technology course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as dental technicians, collaborating with dentists to design and create custom dental restorations and appliances to improve patients’ oral health and satisfaction. Graduates of Dental Technology programs may also be qualified for careers in research and development, education, sales, and laboratory management.
Objectives
The objective of a Dental Technology course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of dental technology. This includes learning about the design, fabrication, and repair of dental prosthetics and orthodontic appliances, as well as the use of materials and techniques in dental technology.
Students in a Dental Technology course will study the anatomy and physiology of the mouth and teeth, and learn about the clinical procedures and processes involved in fabricating dental restorations, including taking impressions, making models, and casting and finishing restorations. They will also learn about the use of digital technology in dental technology, including CAD/CAM systems, 3D printing, and computer-aided design.

Enrty Requirement
A minimum of 5 credits passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry and any subject, at not more than two sitting (2) at the SSCE, WAEC or its equivalent.
Programme Duration
The duration for the Programme is 3 years. Each Year having First and Second Semester
